Riding School in Iceland – Horseback & Horse Riding Lessons

Our riding school in South Iceland welcomes riders of all ages and levels — from complete beginners to passionate horse lovers. With the guidance of our experienced instructors, you will learn the essentials of horseback riding in Iceland while building a deep connection with our gentle Icelandic horses.

The Icelandic horse is known for its strength, friendly character, and unique tölt gait. In our lessons, you’ll not only discover how to ride, but also gain an appreciation for what makes this breed such an important part of Iceland’s history and culture. Whether you’re preparing for a longer horse riding tour in Iceland, practicing before a trek near Reykjavik, or simply curious to experience the tölt, our school offers a safe, fun, and memorable start.

    Private & Family Lessons

    We offer private horseback riding lessons for individuals, couples, or families who want a personal experience. Our instructors carefully match you with the right horse and adapt the pace to your comfort level.

    Riding School in Mid-Grund

    At our Mid-Grund farm, where our family has lived for six generations, we run group lessons surrounded by Iceland’s open landscapes. Here, riders can enjoy a calm introduction before heading out on longer tours.

    Riding School in Vík

    During summer, we also open lessons near Vík í Mýrdal — close to the Black Sand Beach — combining horse riding lessons with some of Iceland’s most breathtaking views. From 1 June to 6 June each year.
