This is the ultimate horseback riding experience in Iceland, designed for riders who want to spend a full day immersed in nature. Combining highlights from our favorite tours, this journey takes you across rivers, to waterfalls, along lakeshores, and finally to Iceland’s iconic Black Sand Beach. Each moment offers new scenery, new experiences, and unforgettable memories.

We typically begin the day by riding north from our farm across open fields and shallow rivers towards the stunning Írafoss waterfall. Here, we pause for a break and enjoy the dramatic mountain backdrop — the perfect place for photos with your Icelandic horse.

Around midday, you’ll enjoy a warm, homemade lunch of hearty soup and freshly baked bread, served in our kitchen or as a picnic in nature, depending on conditions. This break gives you time to relax, refuel, and experience a taste of Icelandic tradition.

In the afternoon, the ride continues towards Lake Holtsós and out to the Atlantic coast, where the vast expanse of volcanic sands stretches endlessly. Riding along the dramatic shoreline of the Black Sand Beach is a highlight — and with a little luck, we may even spot curious seals playing offshore. For those who wish, there’s also the chance to canter across the soft sand, making for an exhilarating and unforgettable moment.

On clear days, the ride reveals breathtaking views of Eyjafjallajökull and Mýrdalsjökull glaciers, the Westman Islands rising from the Atlantic, and even glimpses of the mighty Skógafoss waterfall. This constantly changing scenery makes the Full-day Nature Ride Tour one of the most rewarding ways to experience South Iceland.
